Britain’s most famous Victorian street experience has had a massive makeover!

The fabulous street of Kirkgate has been magically brought to life as part of a massive revamp.

Here is a quick look at the biggest changes:

Explore brand new areas such as the Victorian School Room and inside some of the shops, such as the bank and sweet shop. In total 30 per cent more space has been opened up to the public.

Come and meet the characters behind the shop windows including the toymaker, grocer, sweet maker and the policeman.

Experience the brand new big show where a fantastic sound-scape transports you back into a time which changed the world.

Watch time pass before your eyes as brand new lighting gives the street its own night and day.

Read all the exclusive stories from the street in its very own paper, The Kirkgate Examiner. The paper relates to the events happening on the street, giving visitors a more in depth look at life in Victorian times.

More information will be given about the displays in a number of interactive ways which will suit different age groups.

Take a sneak peak into the lives of the people who worked and traded in Kirkgate’s pawnbrokers. The through-the-keyhole technology allows the visitor to watch from a distance as characters barter to try and get a good deal for their goods.
